With several African teams reaching the knockout stage, the Black Stars forward believes this is only the beginning and hopes even more records will be broken.
Speaking to Amplify Africa after Ghana’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup Round of 32, Ghana’s forward Brandon Thomas-Asante said the success of African nations at the tournament is proof of the continent’s quality.
“For a long time, African nations have been doubted… I’m glad to see so much success among all of the African nations. It just shows how much talent there is.”

Here is his interview with Amplify Africa’s Timi Adeyeba off the pitch
Amplify Africa: Congratulations
Obviously not the result you wanted, but you’re through to the round of 32
About seven other African teams are through
What does this have to say to, you know, people who’ve underestimated African football?
Brandon Thomas-Asante: I think it says it’s quite it says what it needs to say on the team
I think for a long time, African nations have been doubted in what they can do at major competition
I think for a long time, African nations have been doubted in what they can do at major competition
And I’m glad to see so much success among all of the African nations and it just shows how much talent there is all across the world.
And Africa’s no different and I think that will continue to show itself in hopefully records being broken
Of course, we want to do that ourselves
But yeah, I think it’s only a positive thing
