Despite the many years of work that have gone into fighting fatphobia, alongside the body-positive movement that defined much of the 2010s, there is still significant work to be done. This is particularly true when it comes to centering Black women in conversations around body acceptance, representation, and desirability.

TAJÉ PRODUCTIONS aims to do exactly this with Thick & Uninterrupted, a vertical drama series created by Tajé Prest. The series follows Maya, a confident, curvy woman navigating love, desire, identity, ambition, and relationships entirely on her own terms.

As an actress, producer, storyteller, and founder, Prest has carved out a career across multiple sides of the entertainment industry. Through that experience, she became increasingly aware of a question that remains largely unanswered: Where are the stories that allow curvy women to exist as confident, desirable, ambitious, complicated, and fully realised protagonists?

“Thick & Uninterrupted is about more than being curvy. It’s about refusing to shrink yourself to make others comfortable. It’s about women owning their space, their voices, and their stories fully and without interruption.”

For Prest, continued education is also part of the responsibility of building as both an artist and a founder. She remains committed to expanding her creative and production knowledge while developing TAJÉ PRODUCTIONS from multiple sides of the filmmaking process.

Thick & Uninterrupted has already begun gaining recognition, having been selected as an Official Selection for the inaugural 9:16 Microdrama Showcase at the 30th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF). Beyond the recognition of its selection, the screening generated an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences and industry professionals, sparking meaningful conversations around the series, its characters, its approach to representation, and the possibilities of vertical storytelling.

The momentum from ABFF is already translating into the next phase of TAJÉ PRODUCTIONS’ work. The company has a new short film moving through its next stage of development, expanding its slate of original storytelling beyond Thick & Uninterrupted.

At the same time, TAJÉ PRODUCTIONS is developing conversations and collaborations with several organisations and potential partners around future vertical projects and original content. These relationships are creating opportunities to explore new slates, formats, and approaches to developing and producing stories for mobile-first audiences.

Through it all, Thick & Uninterrupted is officially moving forward. Season 2 is currently being written, with production scheduled to begin in October 2026.

Ultimately, Thick & Uninterrupted represents an important moment for representation: an exploration of the deep, beautiful, and complex lives of curvy, confident women, while also demonstrating the potential of vertical drama to tell stories that are both entertaining and meaningful.
