Nigerian-American comedian, actor and filmmaker Saidah Belo-Osagie is joining Saturday Night Live for its 52nd season. The Queens native will step onto one of the most iconic comedy stages in the world as a new featured player, bringing her distinct voice and perspective to the long-running late-night show.

Over the last few years, Belo-Osagie has carved out a name for herself through her character-driven comedy, online sketches and collaborations with other internet comedy creators. Her work has also extended beyond social media, including the short film Tinge, the series Afrobeats Futura and her solo show Saidah Gets Closure.

Her addition to the SNL cast is particularly significant. Belo-Osagie becomes the show’s first Black woman cast member since Ego Nwodim’s departure, restoring Black female representation to the ensemble after Nwodim’s exit.

With her arrival, Belo-Osagie joins a long line of Black women who have made their mark on Saturday Night Live, including Maya Rudolph, Leslie Jones and Nwodim. She will join fellow new featured player Grace Reiter when Season 52 premieres on September 26, with NBA champion Jalen Brunson hosting and KATSEYE serving as the musical guest.
