Davido Takes Afrobeats to Coachella 2026

Davido recently made his Coachella debut at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The event was held over two weekends, April 10–12 and April 17–19, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

The Nigerian megastar performed on two Saturdays, April 11 and 18, at the Gobi Stage. Davido stood out as the sole Nigerian artist on the 2026 Coachella performance lineup. The four-time GRAMMY nominee joined an array of global music heavyweights, including Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Teddy Swims, Sexyy Red, Karol G, and Central Cee.

Despite Davido being the only Nigerian artist billed for performance that night, Afrobeats fans got an additional surprise when international pop icon Justin Bieber invited Wizkid and Tems onto the main stage. The trio electrified the crowd with a live performance of the global hit “Essence” remix.

Afrobeats at Coachella

The presence of Afrobeats at Coachella did not start this year. Seun Kuti opened that chapter in 2012 alongside his father’s legendary band, Egypt 80. He returned in 2020 and again in 2025, extending one of the longest African runs at the festival.

In 2019, Burna Boy made a breakthrough debut that drew global attention, and his protest over the size of his name on the Coachella poster created buzz online. That same year, Mr. Eazi also performed. Burna Boy returned in 2023 and, this time, performed on the main stage.

In 2024, DJ Spinall became the first Nigerian and Afrobeats DJ to perform at the festival, bringing out Fireboy DML and Teni during his set. He returned to Coachella in 2026 for a second appearance. CKay, Tems, and Rema made their debuts in 2022, 2024, and 2025, respectively.

Davido’s Coachella debut shows the continued relevance and importance of Afrobeats on the global stage.
