Wisdom Kaye has officially added one of fashion’s most meaningful honours to his growing list of achievements.

The Nigerian-American creator was presented with the 2026 Virgil Abloh Award, presented by LVMH, at Harlem’s Fashion Row’s 19th Annual Fashion Show & Style Awards in New York City on September 8. The ceremony, themed “Peace by Piece,” kicked off New York Fashion Week with a celebration of Black creativity and the people shaping fashion, media and culture.

Harlem’s Fashion Row described Kaye as having developed “one of the most distinctive visual languages in fashion today,” pointing to his cinematic approach to styling and storytelling. His work combines fashion, character, fantasy, tailoring and an instinct for proportion, helping expand the possibilities of what fashion content can look like online.

In 2020, Kaye started sharing experimental styling videos on TikTok. The platform quickly turned his personal interest in fashion into a global audience, eventually earning him Vogue’s “best-dressed guy on TikTok” distinction and establishing him as one of the internet’s most recognisable fashion personalities.

Since then, the scale of his career has changed dramatically.

Kaye has worked with fashion houses including Dior, Fendi, Prada, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., Coach and AMI Paris, while also walking the runway for Balmain. His 2024 Met Gala debut, where he wore a dramatic Robert Wun look, marked another significant step in the transition from digital creator to fashion-industry fixture.

In 2025, that influence earned him a place on the inaugural TIME100 Creators list. This year, he joined the expert panel for the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, putting him on the other side of the industry he once entered primarily as a creator: helping identify the next generation of fashion talent. It is that evolution that makes the Virgil Abloh Award particularly significant.
