Burna Boy and Shakira Headline Official 2026 FIFA World Cup Anthem

More than fifteen years after Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) became one of the defining sounds of the 2010s, Shakira is returning to the World Cup stage this time with Burna Boy beside her.

On Thursday, FIFA officially unveiled “Dai Dai” as the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Shakira teasing the track through a one-minute video filmed inside Maracanã Stadium. The teaser, which ends with fireworks exploding above the stadium roof alongside the words “We Are Ready,”

In a post shared on X, Shakira wrote: “From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! @burnaboy.”

The collaboration marks a major full-circle moment for Shakira, whose relationship with football culture has quietly stretched across nearly two decades. In 2006, she performed Hips Don’t Lie during the World Cup closing ceremony in Germany. By 2010, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” had transformed into something much bigger than a tournament soundtrack, becoming one of the most commercially successful World Cup songs. Four years later, she returned again with La La La (Brazil 2014) during Brazil’s tournament cycle.

Burna Boy’s involvement is especially significant. Over the last decade, the Nigerian superstar has evolved from one of Africa’s biggest artists into a global touring force capable of selling out arenas and stadiums across Europe and North America.

A new worldwide hit seems to be incoming!
